Where are Wills and LPAs stored?
Transcript below.
Where is your Will actually going to be stored?
Well, we will store it with a firm of solicitors in Bristol called King's Court Trust. They have a waterproof, bombproof, and fireproof storage facility.
When we send it off as storage, you will get a certificate to prove that it has been securely stored. You will also get full instructions of how your Will can be accessed at any time by either you or your executor. We could access them on your behalf if you wanted to, but you will get all those full instructions.
The Lasting Power Of Attorneys (LPA) will be stored, if you like, or registered with the Office of the Public Guardian directly.
They get sent the application forms, they keep them, but then they will acknowledge after a period of time, quite a bit of time, unfortunately, could well be a few months before you get the acknowledgement from the Office of the Public Guardian that they've got them and they've got registered, but they will notify you directly on that.
